Happy About Bin Laden?

My happiness following the death of Usama Bin Laden was probably misunderstood.

My joy was about seeing the justice of God that others would also see God's justice and believe.

Many may have forgotten that God's justice is as much an attribute of God as is his love, his immutability or his eternality. I will take as much delight in seeing the justice of God as I take in seeing the love God has for man in the sacrifice of his son. I certainly haven't heard that delight in seeing the love of God means that I am some kind of self-righteous nut putting myself in God's place.

After the news of Bin Laden's death, I posted Romans 13:2-4 on my Facebook page and was criticized for it. Remember the passage? Here it is from the ESV: "Therefore whoever resists the authorities resists what God has appointed, and those who resist will incur judgment. For rulers are not a terror to good conduct, but to bad. Would you have no fear of the one who is in authority? Then do what is good, and you will receive his approval, for he is God's servant for your good. But if you do wrong, be afraid, for he does not bear the sword in vain. For he is the servant of God, an avenger who carries out God's wrath on the wrongdoer," (Romans 13:2-4 ESV).

The Navy SEALS who assaulted Bin Laden's hiding place were the servants of God, avengers who carried out God's wrath on an evildoer.

There is an important difference between a person who is a hater of men and a person who hates injustice. How could I have hated Bin Laden? Never knew the guy, except what was written in the newspaper. But, I knew from his own admission that he killed about 3,000 innocent people. What happened to Bin Laden was the logical consequence of his actions.

God be praised for his justice and for the providence that carried it out.

I will sing of steadfast love and justice;
        to you, O LORD, I will make music.
    I will ponder the way that is blameless.
        Oh when will you come to me?
    I will walk with integrity of heart
        within my house;
    I will not set before my eyes
        anything that is worthless.
    I hate the work of those who fall away;
        it shall not cling to me.
    A perverse heart shall be far from me;
        I will know nothing of evil.
